A Summer Check-In

Updated: 5 days ago

I accidentally took more than a month away from email marketing (exactly what I’d encourage you not to do). But sometimes it’s challenging to carve out time to focus on my own marketing.

Summer over here has been fun, overwhelming, and a bit chaotic. A trip to the beach and shorter workweeks haven’t cured my burnout, but have forced me to rethink my goals and consider where I really want to focus my energy. I don’t have all the answers yet, but I’m working toward finding a better balance.

A designer I met for coffee this week jokingly said, “I thought I’d leave this meeting with all the answers.” Unfortunately, especially with everything going on in the world, I don’t have them. But I do know this: consistency and direct outreach work.

My advice? Send an email, a DM, or even a handwritten note to a lead or client. Make it a habit. I hear this all the time from artists who have taken my workshops or members of the Stay Gold Collective: this kind of outreach often leads to a sale or a commission. Once you get over the fear and do it, you’ll start to see the payoff. Everyone is looking for connection, and thoughtful outreach stands out.
