This week I met Mia Moross, the owner of The One I Love NYC. She was kind enough to sit down with me for a bit and tell me about her store as well as her new collaboration with Jogani, a jewelry curator in Beverly Hills.
Mia went to school for social work, but found that she was passionate about finding antique jewelry. She started curating jewelry for women to mix with their favorite modern pieces. After about a year of selling antique jewels as The One I Love NYC she started also carrying some of her favorite designer brands including a couple of my favorites - Marla Aaron and Circa 1700.
Symbolism is Mia's favorite thing about antiques. Her favorites is memento mori which has a slightly morbid meaning, "remember you must die." But, the fact that these were made and worn in memory of loved ones is very special.
Currently Mia is on the hunt for Georgian diamond chandelier earrings.
Mia met Anup, the founder of Jogani, at a trade show. Mia strives to be an expert on antique jewelry, especially Georgian and Victorian era jewels. Anup is an expert on diamonds, so when he reached out to Mia about working on a collection, she was excited to learn all she could about antique stones.
Anup is very easy to work with, Mia does most of the selecting of pieces, but Anup always chimes in on the quality of the stones. They are so proud of the collection they've put together and plan to continue adding pieces.
Mia's favorite piece in the collection is a half loop Georgina band. It's thin, dainty and the diamonds are an amazing quality.
Without a doubt this amazing turquoise sacred heart ring is my favorite. It was amazing to see in person.
See more from The One I Love NYC here and keep an eye on this brand, there are exciting things coming this year!
