Digby and Iona
Digby and Iona is a brand that I have been following for many years, since before I began working in the jewelry industry. I continue to be captivated by their authenticity and passion. The man behind it all is Aaron Ruff. He started experimenting with jewelry as a side project 10 years ago while he was a woodworker. That side project grew into the brand Digby and Iona.
Each piece is hand-crafted in his Brooklyn studio and many are one-of-a-kind. The designs are inspired heavily by antique references from Medieval to Victorian, but also by everyday observations.
Favorite design: It’s generally very fluid but is always the most recent, most ridiculous engagement ring I’ve made.
Personal collection: I have a Victorian gold signet with a fox face carved into the back of an emerald.
Daily jewelry: I switch it up a lot but I’m always wear testing the new signet ring prototypes.
Favorite artists: The artists I’m most inspired by at the moment are Ryan Thomas Monahan (IG @what_thehell) and Kirsty Elson (IG @kirstyelson) both are doing really amazing things with miniature environments
Other than jewelry: Travel as much and as often as my job permits.
Currently listening to: It’s a radio station not a specific band. Magic 92 San Diego is playing round the clock in the studio, it’s all 90’s hip hop and R&B slow jams.
