Thanks to my parents being children of the 60s and music lovers, I grew up listening to the greats. A favorite was always the Beatles, but David Bowie was in the mix as well. He was one of the greats. Not only was his music revolutionary, but his fashion was iconic. I was shocked to hear the news of his passing, because when it comes to icons, you don't think that something like cancer could bring them down.
Interestingly enough, I was visiting my family in Philadelphia when the news broke. That evening our electricity went our. We sat there in the dark listening and singing along to some of his greatest hits such as "Space Oddity."
Yesterday I finally had a chance to listen to Bowie's latest release, Black Star, which I highly recommend. Front to back, over and over I listened, trying to make sense of it all.
David Bowie, you were fearless, innovative and changed the lives of many. Thank you.
